Aniconic Spectral
A Solo Exhibition by Rafael Soriano
April 4 – 25, 2025
Rafael Soriano has long traversed the boundaries between abstraction, form, and ephemeral spirituality—not just as a formal exercise but as a means of solidifying the intangible and the subconscious entities that animate his work.
This curated focus, Aniconic Spectral, coincides with the launch of the Catalogue Raisonné, and celebrates the achievements of the Rafael Soriano Foundation—led by Hortensia Soriano and Lisa Faquin—including the recent acquisitions by the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C., and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, NY.
This renewed exploration highlights the artist’s signature ethereal forms, read through a new lens to dissect each realm of luminous shadow in search for the hidden specters that energize each canvas. At the core of each work, discover Soriano’s distinctive dreamlike geometry, anchoring his ongoing dialogue with transcendence and the ineffable.
With Aniconic Spectral Soriano invites us to move beyond the material world and into a space where form dissolves into sensation.
